Hunt County filed a Jan. 6 recusal motion against 196th District Judge Stephen R. Tittle Jr. in Hunt County v. Frank W. Neal & Associates, a lawsuit filed by the county against building contractors. In its motion, Hunt County alleged that Tittle showed partiality by commenting to court reporter Kelly Bryant, who worked in Tittle’s courtroom, that “the [Hunt County] Commissioners are too stupid to understand they have a big law suit pending in my court, and they will pay one way or the other.”

Frank W. Neal & Associates did not immediately return a call for comment.
