Arrest by cop justified, jury finds

A police officer didn’t violate a man’s rights when he entered his home and arrested him, a jury found on Jan. 9. Denison Police Sgt. Fred Tilman was dispatched to the house of Adrian Fatan for a noise complaint. Fatan claimed that Tillman did not identify himself as a police officer. Fatan said he went into the house to call 911, at which time Tillman broke through his screen door. Fatan was arrested and charged with a noise violation and evading arrest. The noise charge was eventually dismissed, and Fatan was found not guilty of evading arrest. Tillman said he identified himself as a police officer, informed Fatan of the noise complaint and asked for his name. Fatan refused to give his name and ran inside, according to the defense.
