Drivers equally to blame for crash

A driver who fractured her arm in a rear-ender recovered $2,828 on Aug. 5, 2013. Debra Lee Phillips was in the far right lane on a Dallas highway when Chidozie Anajemba’s sport utility vehicle struck the left rear side of her SUV. The plaintiff claimed that Anajemba was going fast and wasn’t keeping a proper lookout when he struck her. Defense counsel argued that Anajemba was driving safely in the center lane when Phillips attempted to change lanes without keeping a proper lookout and collided with his vehicle. The jury found Anajamba 50 percent liable and Phillips 50 percent liable, which reduced her $5,656 award.
