When I was a young therapist in training to lead a therapy group, my teacher told me something I’ll always remember: “When dealing with clients in group, it is best never to assume that anyone in the room is emotionally over the age of 12.”

This equally applies to legal representation, as it can prevent lawyers from speaking to clients in a way they’re simply unable to understand.
