One of the challenges facing new lawyers is communicating effectively. It’s not easy. George Bernard Shaw nailed it: “[T]he problem with communication is the illusion it has occurred.” So, here are six methods for senior lawyers and junior lawyers to use in dispelling the illusion and embracing the reality.

No. 1: Make yourself understood. The lawyer delivering a message is responsible for stating it clearly. This is especially true in the context of a senior lawyer communicating with a junior lawyer.
