Three men accused of conspiring to give a $1.2 million bribe to U.S. District Judge Sam Sparks of Austin pleaded guilty on March 12 to just one charge each. Sparks never knew of the alleged bribe.
Francisco Antonio Colorado Cessa, his son Francisco Agustin Colorado Cebado and business associate Ramon Segura Flores each pleaded guilty to count No. 1 against them. According to the indictment in the case, that count was conspiracy to bribe a public official. Daryl Fields, spokesman for the U. S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Texas, said that the defendants could face up to five years in federal prison for “conspiracy to bribe a federal judge.”
