Ever since Texas enacted the Texas Trade Secrets Act (our version of the Uniform Trade Secrets Act), I’ve been following developments in sister states that have adopted their own versions. A 2013 federal case from Florida caught my attention: American Registry LLC v. Yonah Hanaw.
The U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida sketched out the allegations: Employees left Company A to form a competitor, Company B. Company A sued Company B, alleging, among other things, trade secret misappropriation in violation of the Florida Trade Secrets Act.
