In a case of first impression, Amarillo’s Seventh Court of Appeals reversed a $195,000 arbitration award after an arbitrator waited nearly two years to issue a decision in the case—a ruling well past a deadline set by the parties in a small business dispute, according to the recent decision.

Chris Kratovil, a member in Dykema in Dallas who represents one side on appeal, says the decision is important because it shows that deadlines in arbitration agreements can be enforced.
