At what point did a series of campaign finance transactions allegedly become “criminal”? In a June 18 oral argument in former U.S. House Majority Leader Tom DeLay’s money laundering case, the question emerged as one theme, as Texas Court of Criminal Appeals judges questioned lawyers in the appeal. The CCA will determine whether “The Hammer” remains acquitted of his convictions for money laundering and conspiracy to commit money laundering.
The state appealed the Third Court of Appeals’ ruling, which overturned the conviction, to the CCA.
