Add another federal bench that will need a new judge soon in Texas as U.S. District Court Judge Sam Cummings has announced he’s taking senior status from his spot in the Northern District of Texas’ Lubbock Division.

Cummings, who’s spent 27 years presiding over a jurisdiction that also includes the Abilene and San Angelo divisions, announced on July 10 that he will take senior status as of Jan. 1, 2015.
