Austin’s Third Court of Appeals has dismissed with prejudice a case by a former assistant attorney general, following a settlement. The assistant AG had sought to revive his whistleblower claim against Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott after a lower court threw it out.

Texas Lawyer requested the settlement agreement from the Texas Office of the Attorney General under the Texas Public Information Act. It shows that Michael J. Ritter “tendered his resignation” on June 12, but the OAG agreed to extend his resignation date to Sept. 12 while giving him paid administrative leave and benefits. In exchange, Ritter agreed to dismiss his lawsuit and separate employment discrimination charges.
