Taxpayers won’t foot the bill for the all-star legal team defending Gov. Rick Perry’s felony charges of abuse of official capacity and coercion of a public servant.
“Further legal bills will be paid for with campaign funds. This is an assault on the Constitution, and we don’t want it to be an assault on the taxpayers as well,” wrote Perry spokeswoman Lucy Nashed in an email.
