The first bellwether trial began on Sept. 2 in the hip replacement device multidistrict litigation in Dallas federal court.

By the end of the first day of the trial, a jury of five women and four men had been selected, according to Mark Lanier of the Lanier Law Firm in Houston, who, along with Wayne Fisher of Fisher Boyd & Huguenard, also in Houston, represents the plaintiff in the case. Opening arguments are scheduled to take place on Sept. 3 in the courtroom of U.S. District Judge Ed Kinkeade of the Northern District of Texas.
