The main fight between litigants in oil and gas trade secrets cases in Texas and across the country is usually whether an agreement not to disclose geological information about the location of valuable energy deposits is a signed, enforceable contract.

But whether an unsigned nondisclosure agreement is enforceable was the big issue Matthew Pearson had to overcome recently in convincing a Harris County jury to award his client an $18.8 million verdict.
