In the wake of a deadly crash during Austin’s 2014 South by Southwest festival in March, the City of Austin issued a report to recommend new policies for next year’s SXSW.
The music, film and interactive conference draws hundreds of thousands of visitors to Austin, noted the 2014 SXSW Post Event Evaluation. City staff identified “two major issues” with the festival: alcohol consumption and “over-programming for the capacity of a venue,” according to the report.
