A jury found a settlement agreement invalid because of fraudulent inducement and mutual mistake. The court of appeals held that the circumstantial evidence of fraud in this case was legally insufficient. Circumstantial evidence often involves linking what may be apparently insignificant and unrelated events to establish a pattern. Inferences become stronger when the circumstantial evidence raises the inference of fraud, and the parties alleged to have engaged in the fraud fail to offer any proof of their legitimate or honest motives.
