Sen. Ken Paxton, the Republican candidate for Texas attorney general, faced a disciplinary order from the Texas State Securities Board in May. Now a woman and a legal group are fighting to get documents related to the board’s investigation of Paxton.

The petition in Gammill v. Morgan explained that a woman hired Paxton to prepare a postnuptial agreement between herself and her husband. Paxton encouraged the client to hire an investment adviser and his company to manage her stock, bond and mutual fund investments. One year later, the client’s husband also hired the same adviser and company.
