A plaintiff who sued Patti LaBelle, three members of her entourage and her company, alleging an assault, will not get a new trial, according to a Nov. 14 ruling issued by U.S. District Judge Keith Ellison of the Southern District of Texas.

According to Ellison’s ruling: In 2011, Richard C. King, a former West Point cadet, and three people accompanying LaBelle got into an altercation at the George Bush Intercontinental Airport. King then sued those three entourage members, LaBelle and her company, claiming, among other things, assault and defamation. One of the members of LaBelle entourage countersued, alleging that King had assaulted him.
