South Texas College of Law has launched an Oil & Gas Law Institute with a major goal of better preparing law students for work in the energy industry and to place the law school’s energy activities under one umbrella.
Christopher Kulander, a visiting assistant professor at the Houston law school, said that because Houston is the “center of oil and gas finance for the entire hemisphere,” the law school needs to produce attorneys who can immediately work at firms with an energy practice or at one of the many energy companies with operations in Texas.
