A former Nueces County assistant district attorney has sued the county, alleging that he was fired after he rejected his supervisor’s instructions to withhold exculpatory evidence from a criminal defense lawyer.

“Defendant D.A. routinely instructs its employees to withhold evidence from criminal defense attorneys who represent criminal defendants—evidence which is favorable to the criminal defendants in their criminal cases,” alleged plaintiff Eric D. Hillman, who sued Nueces County for wrongful discharge for refusing to commit an illegal act.
