The Travis County District Attorney’s Public Integrity Unit might get its state funding back, but with strings attached.

After the 2013 legislative session, former Gov. Rick Perry vetoed state funding for the unit, writing in a veto statement that he wouldn’t support the funding when the person in charge of the unit had lost the public’s confidence. Travis County D.A. Rosemary Lehmberg was convicted of driving while intoxicated. Perry now faces felony charges related to his alleged threat to veto the funding unless Lehmberg resigned.
