In the wake of bad news that his criminal case would move forward, former Gov. Rick Perry said it would not stymie his possible run for president because Americans want “a leader not afraid to stand up.”

He still plans to announce whether he’ll run in May or June, added Perry at a Jan. 28 press conference in Austin, flanked by his criminal defense attorney, David Botsford, and his lead counsel, Tony Buzbee.
