Chairman Christi Craddick’s tenure as head of the Railroad Commission of Texas hasn’t been dull. After first serving as a commissioner, she was elected as chairman of the agency in August 2014—just when oil prices started plunging. An attorney with experience specializing in oil and gas, water, tax issues, electric deregulation and environmental policy, Craddick has had her work cut out for her promoting the Lone Star energy sector during this challenging time.

In this first part of a two-part series, Texas Lawyer asks Craddick to talk about how state regulations are affecting the Texas oil and gas industry. On Feb. 19, she will be speaking at the 10th Annual University of Texas Journal of Oil, Gas and Energy Law Symposium that will be held in Austin.
