Allegations in a recent lawsuit tell the story of a small firm merger that went terribly wrong, souring the relationship between partners.

Filings from both sides show that William “Mick” McKamie’s firm, McKamie Krueger, in May 2012 merged with Barney L. Knight’s firm, Knight & Partners. But there was disagreement about how much money McKamie’s firm was supposed to pay to Knight. The relationship turned south from there: The attorneys quarreled about how much to bill clients, which lawyers would work for clients, the quality of that work, and more.
