Two oil and gas industry groups wasted no time digging in and suing the federal government over its new effort to regulate hydraulic fracturing on public and American Indian lands.
Secretary of the Interior Sally Jewell recently released final standards intended to regulate hydraulic fracturing (fracking) in specific locations. The U.S. Bureau of Land Management’s stricter hydraulic fracturing rules were no doubt driven in part by the recent explosive growth of hydraulic fracturing activity in the United States and its possible negative impact on freshwater resources.
