200th District Judge Gisela Triana of Austin was arrested March 20 and spent the night in jail for driving while intoxicated, a Class B misdemeanor.
The affidavit for warrant of arrest and detention in the case said that Triana was driving a 2013 Chevrolet Suburban, and an Austin police officer pulled her over at 10:05 p.m. for speeding. Radar showed her going 47 miles per hour in a 30-mph zone on Barton Springs Road. The officer formed the opinion that the judge was intoxicated because her eyes were glassy, she was swaying and unsure when walking and she smelled strongly of alcohol. The judge was also cooperative, said the affidavit.
