A recent report takes a close look at the costs Texas prosecutors faced and the impact of choices they made in implementing sweeping reforms to the state’s criminal discovery law.

According to the research study and report, “The Cost of Compliance,” the Texas Criminal Defense Lawyers Association found that prosecutors shouldered costs to implement changes associated with the 2013 Michael Morton Act. The group also found that some prosecutors’ policies delay the production of discovery.
