To settle a lawsuit from the Occupy Wall Street movement, the city of Austin will pay more than $192,000 to two protesters whom police unconstitutionally booted and banned from Austin City Hall.
Austin city council members approved the settlement on March 26. Assistant city attorney Christine “Chris” Edwards told the council that the $192,485 settlement would pay the attorney fees of protesters Rodolfo Sanchez and Kristopher Sleeman. In exchange, Edwards said the protesters agreed to dismiss a federal civil rights lawsuit and to release the city from all claims.
