A judge has appointed Houston attorneys Kent Schaffer and Brian Wice to investigate a complaint against Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton that alleged that he committed a felony under state securities law.

Because the Collin County Criminal District Attorney’s Office recused itself from the matter, 219th District Judge Scott Becker of Collin County appointed Schaffer and Wice as district attorneys pro tem, said a statement by Wice.
