Although I’ve written before about how many lawyers manage their dissatisfaction with law practice by fantasizing about retirement (“Preparing to Live Syndrome,” Texas Lawyer, July 2008), there is another emerging group with no plans at all for retirement. They are the Graying Tsunami.
Demographically, the graying tsunami is baby boomers reluctant to step off stage, where they have been for well past 40 years. But they have grown accustomed to being onstage, have grown comfortable there, and are having a hard time figuring out the next act.
