As lawyers, we live with uncertainty. But is it so bad? Not according to Annie Little in her blog post, “Why Uncertainty Isn’t So Bad and How To Embrace It,” (www.thejdnation.com). To paraphrase Little: It’s law school orientation, and she and her classmates are told by their professors that uncertainty is twisted together like a pretzel with the practice of law; can’t take it, then head for the doors.
She hates uncertainty—panics—but works through it, coming to this realization: by being able to control every outcome in our lives, we would never experience failure, or be forced to change for the better or to grow.
