By Bernie Madoff standards, the amount of proceeds that Round Rock businessman William Allen Risinger allegedly attained through an oil and gas Ponzi scheme is relatively small—approximately $4.5 million.
Nonetheless, the U.S. Department of Justice recently indicted and arrested Risinger on multiple counts, including allegedly aiding and abetting, wire fraud, and engaging in a monetary transaction in criminally derived property. The Texas State Securities Board, the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Internal Revenue Service’s Criminal Investigation Division investigated the case, and the U.S. Attorney’s Office is prosecuting it.
