After a Nueces County jury began deliberating, Christopher J. Arnold, a plaintiff who was paralyzed from the waist down after sustaining injuries in a highway accident, entered into a high-low agreement with Weatherford U.S. and its employee, an oil field worker who drove a vehicle that was also in the same collision.
In the agreement, Weatherford agreed to pay Arnold a minimum of $500,000 and a maximum of $9 million. But Weatherford agreed to pay that larger amount only if the jury awarded at least that much. In his petition, Arnold alleged that the negligence of Weatherford and its employee led to his injuries.
