A Texas-size bankruptcy battle is brewing among three energy companies. EnerVest Energy, the creditor, and Chevron USA, the interested party, are fighting the efforts of debtor Dune Energy Inc. and its affiliates to obtain a release from the bankruptcy judge of all claims against them and their estate property, including their remaining assets.

EnerVest Energy and Chevron USA both recently lodged objections to the Chapter 11 plan of the Dune Energy, Dune Operating and Dune Properties, which was filed on Aug. 20 in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Western District of Texas, Austin Division. Dune Energy, an exploration and development company, has operations focused along the Texas and Louisiana Gulf coasts.
