A federal judge in Sherman dismissed a civil-rights suit filed by a plaintiff who alleged that Collin County Court at Law Judge Barnett Walker violated his protections under the Fourth and 14th amendments when he detained him for two hours because he “disrespectfully” asked for a copy of a court transcript.

U.S. District Judge Amos Mazzant of the Eastern District of Texas issued on Sept. 21 his final judgment dismissing claims of Nathan Burgess, the plaintiff. Mazzant based his ruling on a magistrate’s report and recommendation. That report concluded that even if the allegations were true, “Judge Walker is entitled to absolute judicial immunity for his judicial actions.”
