Geophysical Service Inc., a Calgary-based producer of seismic data, filed lawsuits in Texas federal courts against Hunt Oil Co., ConocoPhillips and Anadarko Petroleum Corp. In three complaints, GSI alleges the three oil and gas exploration companies infringed on its copyrights by obtaining its valuable seismic data from a Canadian regulatory agency.
The GSI complaints against the three O&G companies represent the most recent salvo in the Canadian company’s legal battle to protect its seismic data from users that have not paid licensing fees.
