Next year, lawyers who campaign to become State Bar of Texas board members or the next president-elect will be able to make full use of social media to reach voters.

The State Bar of Texas board of directors on Sept. 25 approved a change in the bar’s election rules that opens the floodgates on social media campaigning. It represents a significant change in the rules over the past five years, which previously didn’t mention social media campaigning but then transformed to allow a limited form.
