Walter Demond, an Austin lawyer who was convicted years ago for money laundering and misapplication of fiduciary property, has resigned his law license.
Demond was facing a petition for compulsory discipline that the Commission for Lawyer Discipline had filed against him in July 2011. His law license has been suspended since September 2011. The CFLD this August moved to disbar Demond. Instead, he filed a motion with the high court asking to be deleted from the list of licensed Texas lawyers. The Texas Supreme Court accepted Demond’s resignation as a lawyer on Oct. 20 after conclusively establishing the CFLD’s allegations about Demond’s convictions.
