A Montgomery County jury sentenced state Rep. Ron Reynolds, D-Missouri City, to the maximum punishment after convicting him of five counts of Class A misdemeanor barratry. He is appealing.

Reynolds paid a case runner to solicit accident victims to sign legal contracts for Reynolds to represent them in their cases. The maximum sentence would be one year in jail and up to a $10,000 fine. Reynolds got one year in jail for each count, to run concurrently, and a $4,000 fine.
