Houston-based Burleson was a two-attorney, full-service energy law firm a decade ago and quickly grew to become the biggest boutique law firm of its kind in the country with five satellite offices and more than 140 lawyers.

But the firm was not immune to the boom and bust cycle of its clients and announced this week that it was shutting its doors at the end of the year, according to managing partner Rick Burleson.
