While it would only seem right that one rebel a bit after an idyllic childhood, Matt Haltom still relied on the lessons learned and slightly worn path from his parents while going off on his own. Haltom made his way through both the Texas governor’s office and the United States Senate chambers before currently leading the general counsel at an international specialty retailer that helps people put on a good face—or any look they desire.

Haltom, 44, is senior vice president and general counsel at Sally Beauty Holdings Inc., the beauty supply distributor based in Denton. He may not have been able to predict his life any more than anyone else, but being the child of two political science professors enabled him to better listen to others.
