Winstead represented a buyer group led by Gabriel Brener that obtained majority ownership interest of the Major League Soccer’s Houston Dynamo, National Women’s Soccer League professional soccer club the Houston Dash and BBVA Compass Stadium in Houston.
On Dec. 15, the Dynamo announced that the Brener buyer group had acquired AEG’s interests in the Dynamo, Dash and the stadium. AEG, which held the franchise’s operating rights, moved the team to Houston in 2006, and in 2008, AEG sold partial ownership interests in the Dynamo and the stadium to Brener, chief executive officer of Brener International Group, an investment firm based in Beverly Hills and to boxing champion Oscar De La Hoya, the CEO of Golden Boy Promotions.
