The Fourteenth Court of Appeals recently overturned a Harris County jury’s $21 million judgment based on wrongful death and personal injury cause of action.

The appellate court ruled that Oiltanking Houston, which owned a Houston-based oil-storage facility, did not have “actual knowledge” of the hazardous situation that caused the death of a contract employee. In the opinion, the appellate court rendered a take-nothing judgment in favor of Oiltanking.
