A former third-year medical student filed a lawsuit against Texas A&M University College of Medicine and Michael Young, the president of its parent school.

In it, plaintiff Danyal Shaikh alleges that a TAMU staff member misdiagnosed him as suffering from a psychiatric condition, when he in fact suffered from a noncancerous brain tumor. As a result, Shaikh alleges he was pressured to withdraw from medical school and since then has been denied re-admission.
