The world was a different place when Dennise Garcia was elected as a Democrat to a family law bench in 2004. Democrats were practically nonexistent in the Dallas County judiciary, lawyers still filed lawsuits using paper and same-sex couples were forbidden by law from marrying in Texas.
Twelve years later, Garcia is now one of Dallas’s most senior trial judges. Democrats now dominate district court benches in the county. Lawyers now file their cases by computer.
