Larry Bowman was obviously unhappy about the outcome of a recent trial—a $10 million federal jury verdict against his client. But things have changed.

“We lost big, no question about that,” said Bowman, who is a director in the Dallas office of Kane, Russell, Coleman & Logan, who represents a defendant in a breach-of-contract lawsuit in Lubbock federal court. But last week much of the sting of that trial defeat fell away when Senior District Judge Sam Cummings of the Northern District of Texas in Lubbock overturned the jury’s verdict.
