In an intellectual property dispute in federal court in Oklahoma, a jury recently awarded Houston-based Core Laboratories a $1 million verdict after determining that its oil well services competitor, Spectrum Tracer Services, and two former Core employees, were liable for unfair competition by misappropriation.

The jury also found in favor of Core related to its claim of copyright infringement against only Spectrum, which is based in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and awarded Core $15,000 in damages for the infringement.
