Texas-based oil giant Exxon Mobil has agreed to foot the hefty $10.75 million bill for the oil spill cleanup and petroleum contamination removal costs at eight locations across the state of New York.

State Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli and New York Attorney General Eric T. Schneiderman recently announced that Exxon’s settlement funds will go to reimburse the New York Environmental Protection and Spill Compensation Fund (Oil Spill Fund) for the remediation expenses associated with cleaning up the contaminated sites.
