Dog and fish owners told a Dallas court on June 2 that the breach-of-contract lawsuit filed by a pet-sitting company violates their free-speech rights. The pet owners asked the court to toss the lawsuit.

In a previously filed petition, Prestigious Pets of Plano and its owner alleged that those pet owners, Robert and Michelle Duchouquette, never told the company that they wanted their fish, as well as their dog, to be cared for while they vacationed for five days. But when they returned from that trip, the couple libeled and disparaged Prestigious Pets with their comments about the allegedly neglected condition of their fish upon their return. They posted those comments as part of a one-star Yelp.com review and also on other social media sites, according to the petition. By doing so, the couple also violated a nondisparagement clause of a contract Robert Duchoquette had signed with the company, the petition alleges.
