To be honest, the idea putting an image of Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump on the cover seemed a bit cliche and overdone in our current media environment. This is due to the fact that any given day the top 10 headlines on MSNBC, CNN or The Washington Post (which may have less going forward due to the most recent news on that front) are Trump related. But the fact remains that there are serious issues that are connected to the fact that he is the presumptive Republican nominee. Love him or hate him, it has created a ripple effect—and not only in the media.

And that brings us to the topic of this issue’s cover story: What does Trump’s candidacy mean for our judiciary here in Texas? We all see directly how partisanship can affect our nation’s high court and its balance, but what about our local courts?
